AFCON 2025: CAF launches investigation into misconducts during quarter-final games

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has condemned unacceptable behaviour by players and officials during the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and announced an investigation into incidents that occurred during the quarter-final matches between Cameroon and Morocco, as well as Algeria and Nigeria,  Afrosport reports.

Following a review of match reports and video footage suggesting potentially inappropriate conduct by certain players and officials, CAF has referred the matter to its Disciplinary Board. The board will conduct a thorough investigation and impose sanctions on any individuals found guilty of wrongdoing.

CAF is also examining footage of an incident involving members of the media who allegedly misbehaved in the mixed zone area.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, CAF emphasised that all participants are expected to maintain professional conduct, particularly in interactions with referees and match organisers. The organisation confirmed that any violations will be met with appropriate disciplinary action.

Following the final whistle, several Algerian players and members of their technical staff aggressively confronted the match officials on the pitch and followed them down to the tunnel, an incident that CAF labelled as completely unacceptable, and one that brings the game into disrepute.

The Cameroon vs Morocco game also recorded violent incidents, with CAF expressing displeasure in strong words.
