Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank says his UEFA Champions League debut against Villarreal on Tuesday will be “special”, Afrosport reports.
The Danish tactician took over from Ange Postecoglou during the summer and will be having a taste with Europe’s elite after Postecoglou, now at Nottingham Forest, helped Spurs win last season’s Europa League.
Frank is now looking forward to playing with the best on the European content as he hopes to strengthen his managerial resume.
“Of course, it’s a fantastic opportunity or experience tomorrow,” he said.
“In many ways you say, I was manager of Brentford in the Championship at Griffin Park, a small, compact stadium, and tomorrow we’re playing in one of the best stadiums in the world, maybe the best. In front of our own fantastic fans.
“It’s a European night and we know they’ll be absolutely on it. It’ll be so special. So really looking forward to the first two minutes and the Champions League anthem, and then its focus on the game.”
On facing Villarreal, Frank added: “I believe I have a fantastic squad and we would like to go as far as possible, ultimately you want to try and win it.
“I think the most important thing is that it’s one game at a time. We have a game against Villarreal tomorrow, a very good team.
“I’ve been very impressed when I’ve studied them, but we’ll do everything we can to get a good start.”

Tottenham have won three of four Premier League games under Frank, which sees them in third place on the table, three points behind reigning champions and leaders Liverpool.
