Musiala confident of return from injury before end of 2025

Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala is confident of making a return to competitive football action before the end of the year after he broke his leg and ankle during the FIFA Club World Cup in July, Afrosport reports.

The 22-year-old Germany international of Nigerian heritage fractured his fibula and also broke and dislocated his ankle following a collision with then-Paris Saint-Germain keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in a quarter-final fixture in in Atlanta.

He has been on the road to recovery and offered a positive update on the healing process.

“The leg is progressing well and healing according to plan,” he told SportBild.

“I do not need crutches any more but I don’t want to rush things. I will take the necessary time.

“I don’t want to set a specific date. But given the progress I have made so far I want to be playing competitive matches with Bayern in 2025.”

Musiala has refused to blame the Donnaruma, who is now at Manchester City, for the injury, though acknowledging the difficulty in the early period of his setback.

“Mentally the first few weeks were not easy for me. But there is no point in being constantly frustrated about the situation,” he added.

Musiala scored 21 goals and provided eight assists in 44 appearances in all competitions last season as Bayern won a record-extending 34th Bundesliga title.
