Kudus: New Tottenham signing explains why he is a favourite for fans and players

Mayenda reflects on scoring Sunderland’s first Premier League goal in eight years

New Tottenham Hotspur signing Mohammed Kudus has explained why he is a favourite among fans and players after starring in the opening Premier League 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, Afrosport reports.

The Ghanaian winger joined Spurs from West Ham United this summer and hit the ground running on his debut with a brace of assists for Richarlison’s two goals while Senegal midfielder Pape Matar Sarr assisted Brennan Johnson for the third goal.

Kudus’ performance got a rousing applause from the fans which he acknowledged he gets energy from aside his natural talent.

“Yeah, yeah, I really get the boost and the encouragement, even though it’s part of my DNA, my game, to be in the positions like this,” he said.

“But also with the help of the team, you know, because they need to get the ball and get me higher up in those positions. But yeah, definitely the energy from the fans also bring the boost, even though that’s what I love to do, you know, take players on and then try to create and help the team win.

“And I’m glad that Richarlison was able to, to finish them off today with two beautiful goals.”

Reflecting on the goals he assisted, the 25-year-old added: “With a back five, I think they have a very low line, so definitely, there’s, there’s more space around the, the edge of the box. So, when I get back, that’s where I’m trying to put the ball. The second one, I don’t think is a perfect cross, but his finish made it look so good.

“You know, we try to build aconnection between us two [Kudus and Richarlison]. You know, as a winger, one of my responsibility is to serve the strikers and put the ball in areas for them to, to score, to get more confidence because that’s why we are here, to save the strikers.”

Tottenham will face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their next league encounter.
