MLS: Real Salt Lake acquire Victor Olatunji from Sparta Prague

Major League Soccer (MLS) side Real Salt Lake have acquired striker Victor Olatunji from Czech First League side Sparta Prague for a reported $2.5 million, Afrosport reports.

Olatunji has put pen to paper a three-year contract until end of 2028 with the option of a further year.

Real Salt Lake will now pay fellow MLS side D.C. United $125,000 in General Allocation Money for the 25-year-old Nigerian’s Discovery Priority to complete the deal.

Olatunji scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 93 competitive games with Sparta Prague, scoring twice in eight matches in the UEFA Champions League.

“I very much look forward to playing in Utah and in America,” Olatunji said.

“I have seen and heard good things about Real Salt Lake, the whole setup, and this inspires me to be here today.”

He will team up with compatriot William Agada who is a household name in the MLS having previously play for Sporting Kansas City.

Real Salt Lake are currently eighth in the Western Conference, two points shy of seventh-place Austin FC for an automatic spot in the playoffs.
