Oliver Glasner confident in Crystal Palace winning Europa League appeal

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is confident that the club will win the appeal against their ban from next season’s Europa League, Afrosport reports.

The South London outfit qualified for Europe’s second-tier competition by winning last season’s FA Cup but were demoted to the UEFA Conference League due to owner John Textor also having a stake in French club Olympique Lyon, who will compete in the Europa League, and is a violation of UEFA’s multi-ownership rules.

Palace have appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) with a verdict expected next Monday.

“We don’t have any influence on the decision from UEFA, we don’t have any influence on the decision from CAS, so it just makes no sense that we’re thinking about it,” Glasner told Sky Sports.

“We focus on what we have to do on the pitch, how to create this spirit in the group, this togetherness, this commitment, and this is what we are doing day by day.

“We’re waiting for the final decision, we’re still confident that the appeal will be successful and that we will play in the Europa League. But in the end, on 11 August, we will know the final decision – then we will start to prepare for Europe.”

Crystal Palace will begin their 2025-26 season with the Community Shield against Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday before taking on London rivals Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge a week later.
