Atalanta CEO affirms Lookman’s quest to leave the club

UCL: Lookman disappointed with Atalanta loss against Real Madrid

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi confirmed that Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman has expressed his desire to leave the club for some time amid rumours linking him with a move to Inter Milan, Afrosport reports.

The Nerazzurri submitted a new bid of €45 million after Atalanta rejected a previous €40 million offer, with the hope of getting him integrated into Christian Chivu’s squad before the commencement of the 2025-26 Serie A season.

Speaking to the press at the presentation of new left-back Honest Ahanor, Percassi said he expected Lookman as to leave this summer, in line with the club’s philosophy of one key player sale per year.

He said: “For Lookman, despite a lot of interest, there had never been anything concrete, at least not until [Monday] when the first official offer arrived.

“I saw [Inter Milan chairman Giuseppe] Marotta [on Monday] at the League offices. We have a great relationship, both personally and professionally.

“In the coming days, we will calmly evaluate the offer we have received and then provide a response.

“All I can say is that the timing and value of Atalanta players leaving are decisions made solely by the club.”

Atalanta have already sold Retegui to Saudi Pro League Al-Qadsiah for €68.25 million.
