Cole Palmer is thrilled to prove doubters wrong after Chelsea recorded a massive 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The current UEFA Champions League holders were tipped as favourites to win, having conceded just once before the final and thumped Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-finals.
It was however the UEFA Conference League holders Chelsea that came out all guns blazing at a packed MetLife Stadium, with Palmer netting a brace while assisting new signing Joao Pedro for the third goal, all in the first half.
Reflecting on the result, the former Manchester City man said: “I like finals. It’s happened again.
“It’s a great feeling. Even better, because everyone doubted us before the game, we knew that. To put a fight on like we did, it’s good.
“The gaffer put a great game plan out. He knew where the space was going to be. He tried to free me up as much as possible, and I just had to repay him and score some goals.”

Meanwhile, Joao Pedro, who made it three goals in two games since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion, said it was a wonderful feeling seeing his face in billboards across New York City.
“To score the goals was a great feeling, as was the way the team showed fire out there – the gaffer’s game plan was spot on,” the Brazilian stated.
“I just try to do my job every time I go onto the pitch, and hopefully, I will continue.
“I have seen the billboards in Times Square and outside Madison Square Garden, and it is obviously a nice feeling to be alongside those players.”
Chelsea will go on a post-season break in preparation of the 2025-26 which begins with a Premier League tie against London rivals Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on August 17.
