World football governing body, FIFA, have announced that the winner of this summer’s revamped Club World Cup would earn $125 million, Afrosport reports.
The organisation had earlier announced that the total prize money pot for the competition was $1 billion, which represents a big financial coup for competing clubs.
Half of the money will be divided between all 32 clubs, and the amount each club gets will be based on sporting and commercial merits.
This means that clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City will receive a huge percentage of the fee.
A further $475 million will be awarded on a performance-related basis, meaning the team with the most wins over a potential seven matches will earn more cash.

Despite the big financial benefits, players and coaches that will be participating in the tournament have voiced their welfare concerns, with less time off during the post season.
