Premier League: Salah matches Aguero in Liverpool comeback against Southampton

Mohamed Salah scored a brace as Liverpool came from a goal down to defeat Southampton 3-1 at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, Afrosport reports.

The Saints went ahead in added time of the first half after a defensive mix up allowed William Smallbone to capitalise and put the ball beyond Alisson Becker.

Liverpool began their comeback in the second half through Uruguay forward Darwin Nunez in the 51st minute before Salah netted his brace with two penalties in the 54th and 88th minute.

The Egyptian moved on 184 goals with Manchester City Sergio Aguero to fifth on the Premier League all-time top scorers list.

It also extended his league goal tally at the top to 27 goals in 29 games this season and took the Reds 16 points clear at the top having played a game more.

Meanwhile, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored in the 83rd minute as Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester City 1-0 at the City Ground to maintain third spot while Senegal winger Ismaila Sarr scored in the 82nd minute to hand Crystal Palace a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town at Selhurst Park.

Joao Pedro scored a 98th minute penalty as Brighton & Hove Albion came from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 while Ollie Watkins’ 49th minute strike gave Aston Villa a 1-0 win away at Brentford.

At the Molineux, Zimbabwe midfielder Marshall Muntesi scored his first goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers in a 1-1 draw with Everton.
