2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Zimbabwe boss Nees confident about beating Nigeria in Uyo

Zimbabwe head coach, Michael Nees, is not ruling out the possibility of defeating the Super Eagles when both sides meet in matchday 6 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month in Uyo, Afrosport reports.

Nees, 57, says the Super Eagles are beatable, with both teams having settled for a 1-1 stalemate in the return fixture in Kigali in November 2023.

“Everybody knows Nigeria are better than their current position and our positions are similar,” the German told Brila FM.

“For Nigeria to turn things around they have to perform but I believe they are beatable in Uyo.”

The Super Eagles will host the Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Tuesday, 25 March, four days after visiting the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali to face Rwanda.

The three-time African champions have drawn two of their home games in the campaign (1-1 vs Lesotho, 1-1 vs South Africa).

Nigeria sits fifth in Group C with three points after four games, four points behind the top three of Rwanda, South Africa and Benin Republic.
