Nigeria’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, have embarked on a break following their two-match tour of Ivory Coast last week, Afrosport reports.
The seven-time African champions won one and lost one of the two games played at the Stade Felix Houphet Boigny in Abidjan under the guidance of head coach Aliyu Zubairu.
Players and officials of the team were given nine days off upon arrival from Abidjan at the weekend and will regroup in Abuja next Monday.
The Flying Eagles are fine-tuning their preparation for this year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast between April 26 and May 18, where they will face Egypt, South Africa and Morocco in Group B.
With a 13-team final tournament, three pools and a five-team group A, it means that the two top-placed teams in the other two groups also qualify for the last eight, alongside the best two third-placed finishers in the three groups.
All four semi-finalists at the event will fly Africa’s flag at this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup finals in Chile between September 27 and October 19.
