Nigeria will host the 13th ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament in Abuja between March 6-8, as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the regional body, Afrosport reports.
ECOWAS is collaborating with the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) under the leadership of Shehu Dikko, to host a befitting event in Nigeria’s capital.
In November 2024, Shehu Dikko hosted the Director of Youth and Sports Development of ECOWAS, Francis Njoaguani in Abuja, and assured that Nigeria will be ready to welcome contingents from participating West African Nations.
According to Dikko, hosting the event will be in tandem with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the West African regional body and sports in general.
Top wrestling talents from across West Africa will converge at the Velodrome of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
