Nigeria’s Udo-Gabriel shatters NCAA Division II record

Nigerian sprinter Joy Udo-Gabriel on Sunday broke the NCAA Division II Record after cruising to a personal best time of 7.13 seconds to win the women’s 60-metres final at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Indoor Championships.

Udo-Gabriel, who was recently named the MIAA Track Athlete of the Week, also set a facility record as she finished way ahead of the chasing packs.

American Diandrenique Gaines clocked 7.41s, while Ta’Mihja Nichols ran a time of 7.47s to settle for second and third position, respectively.

Udo-Gabriel, meanwhile, tied compatriot Success Umukoro as the second-fastest Nigerian in the 60m this season.
