Zimbabwe will be without captain and influential midfielder Marvelous Nakamba in this month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and Nigeria, Afrosport reports.
Reports suggest Nakamba will be sidelined for the next six weeks after sustaining an injury while in action with his club side, Luton Town.
The 31-year-old was forced off at halftime in Luton’s 2-0 defeat at Watford last weekend in the Championship.
Nakamba will miss Zimbabwe’s game against Benin’s Cheetahs on Thursday, 20 March, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa, as well as their visit to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo to take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria five days later.
The Warriors were held to a 1-1 draw by Nigeria in the reverse fixture in November 2023.
Zimbabwe sits bottom of Group C with two points from their opening four matches, one point behind the Super Eagles in fifth and five points behind Benin in third.
