F1: Norris sets the pace as power outage disrupts opening Bahrain pre-season test

Lando Norris topped the time sheets on the opening day of Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain, following an hour-long delay due to a power cut at the Bahrain International Circuit, Afrosport reports.

The session’s run time was extended by an hour after power outage two hours into the afternoon session.

Upon resumption, Norris set a time of one minute, 30.430 seconds in his McLaren while George Russell was second fastest in the Mercedes, 0.157 seconds behind.

Reigning world champion Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz completed the top five while Pierre Gasly, Kimi Antonelli, Liam Lawson, Alex Albon and Yuki Tsunoda completed the top 10.

Esteban Ocon logged 88 laps, the most of any driver while seven-time world champion and new Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton logged 70 laps and was classified 13th on the time sheets after participating in the morning session.

Testing action will continue at the Bahrain International Circuit on Thursday.
