‘Welbeck getting better with age at Brighton’ – Ex-Crystal Palace forward Morrison

Former Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison believes Danny Welbeck is getting better with his age after starring for Brighton & Hove Albion in Tuesday’s 2-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth, Afrosport reports.

Welbeck scored the winner in the 75th minute to hand the Seagulls their fourth straight competitive win to move them within three points of the top four.

The 34-year of Ghanaian descent has scored seven league goals and provided four assists which is his best career tally since he left Manchester United over a decade ago.

“Danny Welbeck – it’s like he’s getting better with age. He just keeps going and going,” Morisson told BBC Sport.

“At the start of the season, he was on fire, picked up a few injuries and that has always been the story with Danny and his career, picking up injuries at the wrong time.

“I think he’s a fantastic player and he leads by example.”

Morisson also weighed in on Chelsea forward Cole Palmer and his lack of goals. The former Manchester City man did not find the back of the net as the Blues defeated bottom Southampton 4-0, and has now gone six games without a goal.

“All Cole Palmer needs is one goal. Once he gets one goal he’ll be back on it again,” he added.

“Even the best players, he is one of the best players there is in the Premier League, can suffer what he’s going through at the moment but do you know what I like about him? He still gets in there.

“It’s when you start hiding and not getting in there. He still wants to get in there and create chances, he still says ‘give me the ball’ and once he gets one he’ll go on a good run again.”

Chelsea remain in fourth place on the Premier League table but could be overtaken if Manchester City and Newcastle United win their respective games against Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
