Krejcikova pulls out of Indian Wells and Miami Open with back injury

Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova will not play in next month’s WTA 1000 tournaments at Indian Wells and Miami Open following a back injury that has kept her sidelined since November, Afrosport reports.

Krejcikova suffered the injury during the WTA Tour’s Asian swing of tournaments, which also affected her during the season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she reached the semi-finals.

The 29-year-old Czech pulled out of the Australian Open in January, stating that she needed more time for her injury to heal.

The world No. 16 will be replaced by Austrian Julia Grabher in the main draw at Indian Wells, which will take place from 5 to 16 March.

The Miami Open tournament kicks off on March 18.
