Salah dismisses talks of Premier League title being sealed for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has dismissed talks that Liverpool has already sealed the Premier League after going 11 points clear after l their 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday, Afrosport reports.

The Egyptian superstar scored and assisted for Dominik Szoboszlai as the Reds opened a healthy lead over Arsenal having played a game more.

It has led to suggestions that a second Premier League title is already in the bag but Salah does not agree with it.

“I wouldn’t say it feels close. We need another title for sure, me and the big guys here in the team,” he told the club website.

“We need another title. But we’ll give it our best, we’ll give it a good shot and we’ll see.”

Salah’s contributions took him to 25 goals and 16 assists, drawing him closer to his maiden tally when he joined Liverpool in 2017, scoring 32 goals and provided 10 assists. When quizzed which season he prefers, he said: “I don’t know, it’s an opinion. Maybe people prefer my first season [at Liverpool] [or] people prefer now.

“I prefer now because [leading] the league, doing your best and helping the team – helping the younger players as well – it’s incredible.”

Reflecting on the win against Man City, Salah stated: “It’s special, to be fair, especially when you’re running in the title race. It’s incredible. They have won four [league titles] in a row now, it’s an incredible team.

“Hopefully we just keep calm because sometimes the pressure at the end can get into us, so hopefully we just keep calm and just play our game and try to win each game.”

Liverpool will be in action next against Newcastle United at Anfield on Wednesday night.
