‘Worst thing in the world’ – Chiefs QB Mahomes reacts to Super Bowl LIX defeat

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes says losing Super Bowl LIX is the “worst thing in the world”, Afrosport reports.

Mahomes was far from his best on Sunday night as the Chiefs were completely dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles, losing 40-22 at Caesars Superdome.

The 29-year-old was sacked a career-high six times and finished 21-of-32 for 257 yards, three turnovers, and two interceptions, with one leading to a touchdown for Eagles’ rookie Cooper DeJean.

“There’s no way around it. Anytime you lose a Super Bowl, it’s the worst thing in the world… it will stick with you the rest of your career,” Mahomes told reporters after the game in New Orleans.

“I mean these will be the two losses that will motivate me to be even better, for the rest of my career. Because you only get so few of these [Super Bowls], and you have to capitalise on them.

“It’s going to hurt for a while, but how can you respond from it?”

The three-time Super Bowl champion was sacked three times and was shut out in the first half for just the third time in his NFL career as the Chiefs managed just 23 yards and recorded just one first down.
