Tammy Abraham was unhappy with the reaction from AS Roma fans after he scored a brace for AC Milan in their 3-1 win over Giallorossi in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.

The England forward of Nigerian heritage is presently on loan from Roma, and gave the Rossoneri a comfortable 2-0 lead in the first half before new loan signing from Chelsea, Joao Felix, scored the third in the 77th minute while Artem Dovbyk scored the consolation goal for the Giallorossi.

Tammy Abraham was met with jeers from the Roma fans while celebrating his goal, believing he was mocking the club. The former Chelsea forward has however clarified that he did celebrate the goal but rather gave thanks to God.

“Everybody knows how I feel about Roma, it’s a club that means a lot to me. It wasn’t nice,” he said per Football Italia.

“I think they thought I celebrated, but I didn’t celebrate, I was just thanking God. This is football, it happens, now we are in the semi-finals and we must be ready to win.”

Abraham has now scored eight goals and provided five assists in 29 competitive appearances this season for Milan.

Meanwhile, another former Chelsea player of Nigerian heritage, Fikayo Tomori, reacted to the win saying: “I have been here for four years, I am happy here. The last season hasn’t been what I wanted, but I feel at home here and want to give my all for this team.”

AC Milan will face the winner of the quarter-final between Inter Milan and Lazio in the semis.
