Newcastle defeated Arsenal 2-0 at St. James’ Park on Wednesday to reach the League Cup final for the second time in three seasons, Afrosport reports.
Goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon in the second leg made the difference for the Magpies, who secured a 4-0 aggregate win, having also won the first leg 2-0 on 7 January.

Newcastle got off to the best of starts as Alexander Isak, who came into the game having scored 14 goals in his last 13 appearances, put them in front inside the opening four minutes with a thumping finish.
The Swede, however, had his goal chalked off for offside as he had just stepped beyond the Arsenal defence line. Referee Simon Hooper announced the decision to the fans inside the stadium following a VAR review.
Eddie Howe’s men were not to be denied their opener 15 minutes later through Jacob Murphy. The Englishman played the ball into an empty net after Isak’s thunderous effort had ricocheted off the left-hand post.
The Gunners were forced into a change in the 37th minute as forward Gabriel Martinelli was replaced by Ethan Nwaneri after suffering what looked like a hamstring injury.
The hosts came out for the second half with all seriousness, and Gordon came close to doubling their lead. After pinching the ball from William Saliba, he unleashed an audacious strike towards the Arsenal goal with David Raya off his line, but his effort failed to hit the target.
The 23-year-old was provided with another opportunity, and this time he took it to double Newcastle’s lead. Raya fed Declan Rice, who was dispossessed by Fabian Schar, and the loose ball found Gordon, whose low strike found the bottom corner.
