Real Madrid boss Ancelotti praises Brest ahead of UCL encounter

UCL: Guardiola confident of Man City victory in must-win match over Club Brugge

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has praised Brest ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter at Stade de Roudourou in Guingamp on Wednesday night, Afrosport reports.

Los Blancos have not had a particularly solid campaign in the league phase by their high standards and are currently 16th on the table.

Brest meanwhile have been one of the standout teams on the European debut, going unbeaten in their first four matches (W3 D1) before losing their next three games.

Regardless, the French team are one point and three places ahead of the current Champions League holders on the table which Ancelloti admits makes the fixture difficult.

“It will be a difficult match as usual because Brest it is a team that has done a good job in the Champions League,” the Italian said.

“They have one more point than us and they have a good opportunity to improve in the standings. I think it is going to be a match with a lot of stake for us and also for them. We want to finish this phase group, a very complicated group phase for us, in the best possible way in the standings.”

Meanwhile, there has been speculation of Ancelotti’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu, with some believing his time might be up at the end of the season even as he has one year left on his contract.

The former AC Milan boss however believes his future is secure at the moment as the hierarchy have confidence in him.

“…There is no doubt about it. Both the club and I want to stay together as long as possible” he stated.

“Only if something odd happens that’s something that could bring some changes, and that’s something that happens a lot in football, but right now we are in a good moment and we have plenty of confidence. The club trust me and I have confidence in what the club is bringing me.”

Ancelotti is in the fourth year of his second stint at Real Madrid and has won 11 titles including two Champions League titles.

His first stint between 2013 and 2015 produced four titles including the Champions League in 2014.
