Haaland convinced long-term Man City contract is right decision

UCL: Flick labels Barcelona’s nine-goal comeback win over Benfica ‘crazy’

Erling Haaland is convinced he made the right decision by signing a nine-and-a-half-year contract extension with Manchester City, Afrosport reports.

The deal which runs until the summer of 2034 is one of the longest deals in Premier League history and will see him tied to the club for the best part of his career.

“When I signed for [Manchester] City, I think I’ve said it before, I felt like, I feel a bit like home. And of course, I really meant it,” the Norwegian said.

“And yeah, I feel like home. I feel so happy. My family is so happy. And I think in the end, that’s what I wanted. And yeah, I’m happy.”

“First of all, my… the feeling, as I said, and the people I spoke with made me convinced that this was the right choice, the people around me and yeah, in the end, when I spoke with people, we came to this and it felt really good. And in the end, I really look forward to spending so many more years in Manchester. It’s going to be amazing.”

Haaland signed the contract while City await the verdict of the 115 charges brought against them for breaching the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play regulation.

The former Borussia Dortmund however player does not think the issue has any bearing on his future with the club.

“No, I haven’t thought of that or anything. I’m confident that the club know what they’re doing. And yeah, in the end, I really don’t think I should speak too much about this because I’ve been there for two and a half years. So yeah, in the end I’m confident that the club knows what to do,” he added.

Man City will face Paris-Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night. They are currently 24th in the standings which is the final playoff spot for a berth in the round of 16.
