NBA: Antetokounmpo, Green named Players of the Week for Week 13

Milwaukee Bucks center Giannis Antetokounmpo and Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green have been named the NBA Players of the Week for Week 13 of the 2024-25 season, Afrosport reports.

Antetokounmpo, however, was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season and the 25th of his illustrious NBA career.

The 30-year-old led Milwaukee to a 4-0 week, averaging 32.0 points, 12.5 assists, and 6.5 assists per game, shooting 66.7% from the field in the week under review covering 13-19 January.

Antetokounmpo helped the Bucks to victories over the Sacramento Kings, Orlando Magic, Toronto Raptors, and Philadelphia 76ers. Across 35 games this season, the two-time NBA MVP is averaging 31.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists, shooting 60.5% from the floor.

He fended off teammate Damian Lillard, LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams (Hornets), Darius Garland (Cavs), Onyeka Okongwu (Hawks), and Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner (Pacers).

Green led Houston to a 3-1 record in the week under review to win the Western Conference Player of the Week award for the first time this season and the second of his NBA career.

The 22-year-old averaged 32.5 points and 3.5 assists per game across four games while shooting 60.6% from the field and 63.3% from the 3-point line as the Rockets recorded wins over the Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, and Portland Trail Blazers.

The former second overall pick overcame Devin Booker (Suns), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC), James Harden, Norman Powell, and Ivica Zubac (Clippers); Scoot Henderson (Trail Blazers); Trey Murphy III (Pelicans); and Jamal Murray (Nuggets) to win the honour.

Green is currently averaging 21.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 43.6% from the floor and 36.0% from beyond the arc across 42 games this season.
