Jean-Philippe Mateta and Marc Guehi found the back of the net as Crystal Palace recorded a 2-0 win away at Leicester City on Wednesday night which pulled them further away from the relegation zone, Afrosport reports.
The Eagles had been with just one win in their last five competitive games before they narrowly beat Stockport 1-0 in the third round of the FA Cup at the weekend.
It was looking to be another tough encounter against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium until the 57th minute when Senegal winger Ismailia Sarr set up Mateta for the opening goal.
Eberechi Eze, scorer of the sole goal against Stockport, then set up his England teammate Guehi for the second goal in the 78th minute.
It marked the first time Palace recorded back-to-back competitive wins since they beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the league in October, followed by a 2-1 win at Aston Villa in the EFL Cup.

Wednesday’s result saw them move above Manchester United to 14th on the table and are now eight points clear of the relegation zone after 21 games.
Reflecting on the performance of the players, Palace boss Oliver Glasner said: “…And when we see the first goal, then we need this dynamic because we knew when we find our players there, they drop with their defence and then we need runs in behind, like JP in this situation.
“…Also very good defending, great set play, good communication between Ebs [Eze] and Marc and great pass, great finish.”
Palace will be engaged in a London derby when they face West Ham United next on Saturday afternoon.
