Liverpool reportedly joins transfer hunt for Osimhen

Liverpool is looking at Victor Osimhen as a possible replacement for Darwin Nunez this summer, Afrosport reports.

The club is preparing to compete for the Nigerian striker, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli.

According to Anfield Watch, Liverpool’s incoming sporting directors, Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards, believe Osimhen would be a great fit to replace Nunez, who has attracted interest from teams in Saudi Arabia.

Edwards has reportedly been tracking the Super Eagles forward since his early career in Belgium and France.

Liverpool’s recruitment team is impressed with his performance in Turkey, where he has scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 16 games.

Osimhen’s future has been uncertain after a public disagreement with Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis.

This summer, his release clause will decrease from €120 million to €75 million, which could lead to a bidding war among Premier League teams, including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Galatasaray is however totally convinced they will keep Osimhen until the end of the season, despite interest from Premier League.
