The Spanish National Sports Council (CSD) on Wednesday granted Barcelona a provisional permission to register the pair of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the rest of the 2024-25 season, Afrosport reports.
Olmo and Victor, who both joined the Catalan club last summer, were only registered for the first half of the season as Barcelona failed to meet the wage cap restrictions set by La Liga.
Both La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Saturday rejected Barcelona’s appeal to register the two players, forcing the 27-time Spanish champions to seek a favourable judgment from a higher authority.
Following the club’s appeal, the CSD has allowed them to temporarily register both Olmo and Victor, with the players granted permission to play in the short term pending a conclusive ruling from the sports council.
“This measure, which is provisional until the appeal filed by the club and the aforementioned players is finally resolved, suspends [La Liga and RFEF’s decision], and the cancellation of the sports licenses of the aforementioned players,” the CSD said in a statement.
“It also maintains the validity of said licences until this appeal is finally resolved.”

La Liga, however, expressed its “disagreement with the decision” and vowed to get further clarification on the matter from the CSD.
“The resolution was adopted without having forwarded the appeal to La Liga or the RFEF, nor granting either party the opportunity to submit their arguments. Therefore, La Liga is currently unaware of the reasoning set forth by the players and FC Barcelona in the appeal,” La Liga stated.
“La Liga will thoroughly review the content of the decision with a view to filing the appropriate appeals, while also expressing its complete disagreement with the decision.”
Dani Olmo, who joined Barcelona from German club RB Leipzig, played the first part of the season for the club, tallying six goals in 15 matches, while Victor has two goals in 17 games.
