Brice Samba: French goalkeeper joins Rennes from Lens

French international goalkeeper Brice Samba has joined Rennes from Ligue 1 rivals Lens for an undisclosed fee, Afrosport reports.

The 30-year-old Congolese-born shot stopper has signed a deal that will keep him at Rennes until 2029.

Samba joined Lens in 2022 from Nottingham Forest and was a key member of the team that finished second in the Ligue 1 in 2023.

He was also previously on the books of French giants Marseille, and has won three caps for the French national team as a back-up to first-choice goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Samba becomes the second signing of the January transfer window by Rennes, following the recruitment of 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winning midfielder Seko Fofana, who joined from Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
