Valencia have decided to part ways with Ruben Baraja after a poor start to the season sees them in 19th position in the league as confirmed by the club on Monday, Afrosport reports.
The Spaniard was Valencia’s hero in the 2022-23 season as he saved them from relegation to help them secure a 16th place finish.
The Valencia hierarchy were expecting better results after acquiring the signature of 12 players but have only managed two wins in 17 in La Liga games this season.
“Valencia CF have decided to bring to an end Rubén Baraja’s time as first team coach,” the club said in a statement.
“…The club would like to publicly thank Baraja for the passion, dedication and commitment that he has shown from the first to the last day of his tenure in charge.
“The dynamic of results during this season has required a decision that has been very difficult to make, but which aims to reverse the situation and achieve better results.
“Valencia CF wish Ruben Baraja the best of luck and much success in the future.”
Furthermore, Baraja won 26, drew 19 and lost 32 of his 77 matches althrough his time with the Spanish club.
Valencia would be keen on getting a replacement as soon as possible as they host Real Madrid on January 3, which was rescheduled due to flooding last month.
