Shooting Stars secured a thrilling 1-0 victory over champions Enugu Rangers on Sunday in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), ending the Flying Antelopes’ 10-match unbeaten run in front of their home fans in Enugu, Afrosport reports.
Ikouwem Utin’s 27th minute effort propelled the Oluyole Warriors to a rare victory at the cathedral and also moved them third on the log on 30 points.
In other games played on Sunday, Remo Stars left it late to beat Bayelsa United 2-0 courtesy Malik Jabbar’s 84th and 88th minute goals.
The Skye-Blue stars returned to the top of the table on 33 points, same number of points with second placed Rivers United, albeit with a better goal difference.
Elsewhere, Anthony Ujoma and Sunday Megwo scored as Abia Warriors defeated Ikorodu City 2-0 in Umuahia, while Rivers United earned a point after forcing Nasarawa United to a 1-1 draw in Lafia.
John Joshua put the home side ahead in the 14th minute, but Kabir Abdullahi’s 50th minute penalty earned the Finidi George-led side a point on the road.
At the Kwara Sports complex, Ismaila Gata converted an 85th minute penalty as Kwara United edged Katsina United 1-0.
