Ikorodu City scored a late equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw, and denied Remo Stars a win in the South West derby in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The Skye-Blue stars drew the first blood at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in the eighth minute when Ibrahim Shuaib got on to a quickly-taken throw, before hitting the back of the net.
Remo Stars defender Ahmed Akinyele was sent off in the 59th minute after picking up a second yellow card, but they preserved their lead until the dying moments of the game.
With 10 minutes added on at the end of regulation time, the home side netted the equaliser in the eighth minute of added time when Chineme Chinonso headed in Salau Yusuf’s cross, to send the home crowd into frenzy.
With the result, Remo Stars relinquished the number one spot to Rivers United who beat Kwara United 2-1 with goals scored by Timothy Zechariah and David Benjamin.
Finidi George’s team have now amassed 32 points from 17 games, two ahead of Remo Stars who slipped to second.

In other NPFL games, El-Kanemi Warriors defeated Abia Warriors 3-0 in Maiduguri courtesy goals from Ibrahim Mustapha, Nasiru Salihu and Mustapha Mohamed.
Niger Tornadoes thrashed Sunshine Stars 4-1, while champions Enugu Rangers extended their unbeaten run to 10 games after forcing Katsina United to a 0-0 draw, and Bayelsa United beat Akwa United 2-1, just as Bendel Insurance earned a point after a 1-1 draw away at Heartland.
