Wolfsburg came out on top in an epic 4-3 win over Mainz at the Volkswagen Arena in Sunday’s Bundesliga action, Afrosport reports.
Die Wolfe started from behind in front of their supporters when Paul Niebel’s put Mainz ahead in the 11th minute goal.
It was however short-lived as Algeria forward Mohamed Amoura put the home team level before Jonathan Burkadt gave Mainz a 2-1 lead heading to half ftime.
The 2009 Bundesliga champions did not give up as Tiago Tomas made it 2-2 in the 57th minute only for Niebel to complete his brace nine minutes later and put Mainz 3-2 up.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were still in on the goalscoring act and found the back of the net in the 84th and 94th minute courtesy of a brace from substitute Jonas Wind.
