Serie A: Atalanta boss Gasperini handed two-match ban for insulting officials

Atalanta boss Gasperini downplays chance of winning UCL, Scudetto

Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has been handed a two-match ban for his behaviour during their 3-1 win against Parma on Saturday, Serie A announced on Tuesday.

The Italian manager was furious at the match officials at the Ennio Tardini Stadium, and has now been handed a touchline ban for his rant.

A statement from Serie A confirmed that Gasperini had been sanctioned for “repeatedly insulting the fourth official Luca Massimi” after he was given his marching orders 10 minutes into the second half.

Gasperini’s touchline ban applies to Serie A alone, which means the 66-year-old will not be on the sidelines for Atalanta’s upcoming fixtures against Roma and AC Milan respectively.

La Dea, second in Serie A, will visit the Stadio Olimpico on Monday, December 2, before taking on Milan at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo four days later.

However, Gasperini and his Atalanta side are in action in the UEFA Champions League with a trip to Switzerland to take on Young Boys at the Wankdorf Stadium on Tuesday.
