Mikel Arteta has called on his Arsenal team to be “ruthless” when they travel to Estadio Jose Alvalade to take on Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, Afrosport reports.
The Gunners have won both of their home games against PSG and Shakhtar Donetsk but are yet to win on their travels after being held at Atalanta before losing 1-0 at Inter Milan. They will now be aiming for just their second win from their last nine European away games.
“Well, it’s certainly something we have to improve, Arteta said. “I think we have made the right steps. And looking back, the way we played against Inter (Milan), against a team that has been so dominant in their league and having the Champions League final that they should have won… and play and dominate the game how we should have done.
“But the reality is that after you have to make it happen, and we didn’t. And making that step is what we have to do next: be ruthless, be much more efficient in the opposition box, and when we get there actually… do what we have to do to take the three points away from here.”
