Claudio Ranieri has been appointed as new AS Roma head coach until end of the season despite announcing retirement few months ago, Afrosport reports.
The Italian will step in for Ivan Juric, who was dismissed after 12 games in charge.
Ranieri will also collaborate with the club owners as an advisor, aiding them as they explore options for a long-term manager.
“At the conclusion of the season, Claudio will transition into a senior executive role, where he will be an adviser to the ownership on all sporting matters at the club,” read a club statement.
“The search for a future coach will proceed over the next months. Claudio will have input in that decision as well.”
Ranieri is no new face to Roma as he has managed the Italian side thrice previously after which he waved his coaching profession goodbye following his brief stint in Cagliari that led to their promotion in the Serie A.
Ranieri has had a quite eventful managerial career, managing 18 clubs in 37 years with his time as Greece national team head coach included.
One of the iconic moments was his legendary Premier League title winning season at Leicester City in 2015-16.
