Matchday two in the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League provided another round of exciting action and results on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
Hosts and 2022 champions AS FAR of Morocco defeated TP Mazembe 3-1 in an impressive comeback win at the Ben M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida as they made it two wins in as many games.

The Moroccan champions were pegged back early on as Elena Obono Nkuandum broke the deadlock to put Mazembe in front in the 11th minute. The forward finished brilliantly from close range after she was teed up by Merveille Kanjinga
After the break, Doha El Madani levelled proceedings for AS FAR in the 50th minute as her header from a corner kick superbly found the top corner of Mazembe’s goal.
Madini turned provider two minutes later, as her well-timed pass found Sanaa Mssoudy, who made it 2-1 to the host, with a precise left-footed finish that found the bottom corner.
Mssoudy completed her brace in the 58th minute, capitalising on a cross from Zineb Erroudany to extend the Moroccan side’s lead to 3-1. However, TP Mazembe’s chances of getting back into the game were dampened as Telma Baffour missed a penalty in the 83rd minute.
The result helped AS FAR secured all three points to increase their lead atop Group A and progress into the knockout phase of the CAF Women’s Champions League, while TP Mazembe remain second with three points and will need a win in their final group game to progress to the next round.
Meanwhile, two second-half goals from Molatelo Kobo and Ntombifikile Ndlovu secured a historic first win for the University of the Western Cape, who saw off fellow debutants Aigles De La Medina of Senegal 2-0 earlier in the day.

Both teams failed to break the deadlock in the opening half, but the second half was different as Kobo scored the opener just five minutes after the restart.
UWC doubled their lead in the 66th minute as Ndlovu’s rocket goal sealed victory for the South Africans, boosting their chances of progression into next round as they are currently third in the group, tied on three points with TP Mazembe.
The final round of matches in Group A is scheduled for Friday, November 15, with Aigles De La Medina to take on TP Mazembe, while University of the Western Cape lock horns against AS FAR.
