AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Super Eagles camp bubbles with 21 players in Abidjan

AFCON 2023: President Tinubu celebrates Super Eagles win over Cameroon

New arrivals on Tuesday have taken the number of players in the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan to 21 ahead of their final round of matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, Afrosport reports.

The new faces include reigning African player of the year Victor Osimhen, who makes a return to the squad after missing the October games, Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface, Atalanta star Ademola Lookman and captain William Troost-Ekong.

The others include the England-based trio of Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi, as well as Bright Osayi-Samuel, Alhassan Yusuf and Nasarawa United’s Victor Collins.

Meanwhile, the trio of Stanley Nwabali, KekechI Iheanacho and Sadiq Umar are the missing players in camp.

Nigeria tops Group D with 10 points and needs only one point from two games to secure a spot in next year’s AFCON finals in Morocco.

The Super Eagles will lock horns against the Cheetahs of Benin, led by former coach Gernot Rohr, on Thursday, November 14, at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny, while they will return to the shores of the country to take on the Amavubi of Rwanda four days later at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
