Asisat Oshoala was on the scoresheet as Bay FC lost 2-1 to Washington Spirit after extra time in the quarter-finals of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) playoffs on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The California outfit made it to the playoffs in their debut season after finishing seventh during the regular season.
Oshoala put Bay FC in front against the Spirit in the 82nd minute with a close round finish. The Nigerian forward made history as the first player to score for the team in the NWSL playoffs.
It was her eighth goal of the season in her 26th appearance for the team.

Bay FC were howevera unable to hold on to their lead as the Spirit equalised four minutes later through Tara McKeown to force extra time.
Their hopes of making it into the semi-finals were however dashed as Caprice Dydasco put the ball into her own net to hand Washington the win.
