AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Benin Republic Arrive Uyo for Super Eagles test

Benin Republic have 10 players already in camp ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers Group D fixtures against Nigeria and Libya, Afrosport reports.

The ten players are part of the 25-man squad selected by coach Gernot Rohr as the Cheetahs seek qualification for the AFCON finals in Morocco next December.

Some notable mentions are Serge Obassa of Remo Stars, Junior Olaitan of Troyes, Tosin Aiyegun of Lorient, Oliver Verdon of Ludogorets Razgrad, Ryan Adigo of FC Lokomotive Leipzig and Andreas Hountondji of Burnley.

The Cheetahs have accumulated six points and are four points behind group leaders Nigeria. They have played four matches, winning two and equally losing two.

However, both West African countries came across each other on September 7 when the Super Eagles won 3-0 in Uyo. The Cheetahs will be looking to recreate the performance they displayed during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers when they saw out a 2-1 victory against the three-time African Champions despite being the first to concede.
