CAF announces 52% increase in prize money for 2024 Women’s Champions League

CAF announces dates for 2025 African Nations Championships

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has provided an update on the prize money for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League scheduled to begin on Saturday in Morocco, Afrosport reports.

The continental football body revealed on Thursday that this edition of the competition will see a 52% increase in prize money to USD 2, 350, 000.

CAF also confirmed that each of the eight clubs participating in the tournament will receive at least USD 150,000 in prize money, with the winner now set to receive USD 600, 000.

The competition’s runners-up will now receive USD 400, 000; the third-placed team will get USD 350, 000; fourth place will receive USD 300, 000; while the third and fourth placed teams in the group phase will each be rewarded with USD 200, 000 and USD 150, 000, respectively.

The eight teams have been drawn into two groups, with Group A consisting of 2022 champions and hosts AS FAR, TP Mazembe of DR Congo, as well as debutants Aigles De La Medina (Senegal) and South Africa’s University of Western Cape.

Meanwhile, Group B has Nigeria’s representative, Edo Queens, defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, CBE FC (Ethiopia), and FC Masar (Egypt).

This edition of the tournament will run from November 9–23, with all 16 matches to be played between El Jadida and Casablanca, while the former will host the final.
