San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan on Monday sustained an injury in their 113-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, with the 21-year-old expected to undergo surgery, Afrosport reports.
Sochan will have surgery to repair the proximal phalanx in his fractured left thumb, an injury he sustained in the second quarter at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
The Polish-American ran into a screen near the Clippers bench late in the first half, before exiting the game with 3:31 remaining on the clock.
Sochan, who was unable to return to the court, played only 12 minutes and finished with four points and three rebounds.
The Spurs lost their fourth game of the season despite leading by a mammoth 26 points with Sochan on the court in the first half, but the Clippers rallied to win the game and end their three-game skid.
The third-year forward is currently averaging career highs in points (15.7) and rebounds (7.7).
San Antonio will reportedly provide update on his situation.
