The Public Ministry and the Federal Police of Brazil, on Tuesday, launched an investigation into Flamengo forward Bruno Henrique, Afrosport reports.
The 33-year-old is suspected of manipulating games to gain favours from sports betting.
According to reports, there is evidence that proves Henrique “acted on purpose” during Flamengo’s match against Santos held on November 1, 2023.
The Brazilian Police also claimed that Henrique is currently suspected of intentionally seeking a card in the match in which Flamengo lost 2-1.
The forward, who was visibly acting strange, received a yellow card for a foul before getting his marching orders for insulting the referee.
Rwprs suggested that his brother and other family members created several accounts on betting platforms the day before the game, with their outcome solely on the player being sent off.
A combined operation involving members of the police and the Public Prosecutor’s GAECO task force carried out 12 search warrants on Tuesday.
The operation particularly targeted some areas in Rio and cities in Minas Gerais, Henrique’s home state in southeastern Brazil, and his house and room at Flamingo’s training ground were also searched.
Albeit the ongoing investigation, Henrique is expected to feature for Flamengo against Cruzeiro on Wednesday.
