Michael Ibe’s 47th minute goal lifted Remo Stars above Lobi Stars in Ikenne with a 1-0 win, while Ikorodu City ended Rivers United’s unbeaten start to the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Sunday with a 2-0 win, Afrosport reports.
The Sky Blues Stars created a couple of chances in the first half through Ibrahim Shuaibu and Ibe but they could not convert.
Peter Onuoha thought he had opened the scoring in the 37th minute, only for his header to be ruled out for offside.
Remo Stars eventually went ahead just two minutes after the restart when Ibe powered in a bullet header from a free-kick.
The goal was enough for the Daniel Ogunmodede’s side to go top of the table on 21 points.
Meanwhile in Lagos, Rivers United’s unbeaten run came to an end after losing 2-0 to Ikorodu City courtesy goals from Ayomide Cole who netted his first goal of the season, and Rivio Ayemwenre.
At the Samson Siasia stadium in Yenegoa, Enyimba held Bayelsa United to a 1-1 draw, Heartland defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 in Umuahia, while Sunshine Stars were also beaten 2-1 at home by Bendel Insurance.
In other results Akwa United defeated Kwara United 2-1, Kano Pillars were 2-1 victors against Plateau United, champions Enugu Rangers won 2-0 at the expense of Nasarawa United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium.

Meanwhile, El-Kanemi Warriors maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-0 win over Katsina United, while Niger Tornadoes won 2-0 against Shooting Stars
