The Boston Celtics dropped their first game of the season in a 135-132 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

The defending champions dropped to 4-1 despite rallying from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime. The Pacers, however, won 11-8 in OT to clinch their second win of the season.
Bennedict Mathurin led Indiana with a 30-point and 11-rebounds double-double, and Pascal Siakam finished with 29 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 17 points and 12 assists from Tyrese Haliburton.

Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 37 points for the Celtics, Jaylen Brown ended with 25 points, and Derrick White poured in 23 points.

Elsewhere, at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Los Angeles Lakers 134-110 to ruin LeBron and Bronny James’ homecoming.
The Cavs improved to 5-0 to maintain their unbeaten start to the season off the back of a brilliant first quarter, which they led by as much as 19 points.
Evan Mobley led Cleveland with 25 points, Donovan Mitchell scored 24 points, and Jarrett Allen finished with 20 points and 17 rebounds.
LeBron finished with a game-high 26 points in front of his hometown fans, Anthony Davis got 22 points and 12 rebounds, rookie Dalton Knecht had 18 points, and Bronny scored his first NBA points to finish with two points and two rebounds in five minutes.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors won both games of their back-to-back, beating the New Orleans Pelicans 104-89 at Chase Center to improve to 4-1.
Buddy Hield led the Warriors with 21 points, Jonathan Kuminga added 16 points off the bench, Trayce Jackson-Davis finished with 15 points, and Draymond Green got 14 points.
Jordan Hawkins led all scorers with 23 points, Jose Alvarado got 16, Brandon Ingram had 14, and Zion Williamson tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds for New Orleans as they dropped to 2-3 for the season.
In the other games, Trae Young’s 35 points and 15 assists double-double was not enough as the Atlanta Hawks fell 133-120 to the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena.
The Philadelphia 76ers dropped their third game of the season, losing 105-95 to the Detroit Pistons despite Tyrese Maxey’s 32-point performance.
At Spectrum Center in Charlotte, the Hornets, led by Nick Richards’ 24 points and 14 rebounds, beat the Toronto Raptors 138-133.
The New York Knicks recorded a 116-107 win over the Heat in Miami off the back of Karl-Anthony Towns’ season-high 44 points.
The Brooklyn Nets beat the Memphis Grizzlies 119-106; the Chicago Bulls overcame the Orlando Magic 102-99; the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs 105-93; and Norman Powell and James Harden combined for 49 points, but the Los Angeles Clippers still lost 106-105 to the Portland Trail Blazers.
