Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has invited 35 players to the Super Eagles B team for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying fixture against Ghana, Afrosport reports.
Eguavoen has called upon the Remo Stars duo of Ismail Sadiq and Sikiru Alimi, as well as Kano Pillars’ forward Zikifilu Rabiu and Enugu Rangers’ attacking midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye.
Akwa United’s Wisdom Ndom, Enugu Rangers’ Saviour Isaac, Nasarawa United’s Anas Yusuf and Abba Maigari of El-Kanemi Warriors are also on the list, with the players expected to resume camp on Tuesday, October 29, in Abuja.
The Super Eagles B will have a tough battle against Ghana, whom they will face over two legs, in a rematch of the last edition’s qualification rounds, which Ghana won on penalty shootout.
The first leg of the double-header is slated for the weekend of December 20 – 22, with the return fixture scheduled for a week later.
The winner of the two qualifiers will clinch a spot in next year’s edition of the CHAN tournament, which is reserved only for players playing in their country’s domestic League.
The CHAN 2025 tournament, which is the competition’s eighth edition is slated to take place from February 1–28, 2025, across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
