2024 CAF Awards gets Dec. 16 date; Marrakech as host city for second year running

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday announced that the 2024 CAF Awards will be held in Marrakech, Morocco, Afrosport reports.

The African football body also revealed that this year’s CAF Awards ceremony will be held on Monday, December 16.

This marks the third consecutive year the prestigious event will be held in the North African country and the second successive year it will be held in the city of Marrakech after the 2022 edition was held in Rabat at Mohammed VI Technical Centre.

The 2023 edition, which had a star-studded line up, was held at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech.

A statement from CAF read: “The CAF Awards recognise exceptional performances in both club and national competitions, culminating in the prestigious titles of CAF African Player of the Year in both men’s and women’s categories.”

The Nigerian duo of Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala currently hold the title of reigning African Footballer of the Year in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, with the latter having won it a record six times and for the past three years.

Meanwhile, CAF revealed that it will confirm the start time of the 2024 CAF Awards in due time.
