NBA: Thunder’s Isaiah Hartenstein out for at least a month with hand injury

Oklahoma City Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein is set to miss at least one month after suffering a “small, non-displaced fracture in his left hand”, Afrosport reports.

The 26-year-old picked up the injury on Tuesday night during Thunder’s 124-94 win over Denver Nuggets at the Ball Arena in preseason.

OKC announced on Thursday that the 7-foot Hartenstein, who recorded 11 points, three rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes against the Nuggets,  will be re-evaluated in five to six weeks.

Hartenstein joined the Thunder as a free agent in the offseason having spent last past two seasons with the New York Knicks, where he averaged 8.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the 2023-24 season.

The German-American entering into his seventh season in the NBA is expected to provide the Thunder with another  shot-blocker and a much-needed rebounder as they look to consolidate on their top finish in the Western Conference last campaign.

OKC tip-off their 2024-25 regular season against Denver on Thursday night (October 24).
