The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has selected Morocco as the host for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, Afrosport reports.
The North African country, who also hosted the 2022 edition of the competition, was announced as CAF’s choice to host the continental women’s inter-club competition on Wednesday.
It is important to note that Morocco is also the host of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and co-host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, a testament to the country’s investment on sport infrastructure.
This year’s edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League will run from November 9-23, with the winners set to get a prize money worth USD 400,000, while the runners-up will get USD 250,000.
Eight teams will jostle for the title, with Nigeria’s Edo Queens, winners of the WAFU B zone, set to compete with other African top clubs like defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa as well as Morocco’s AS FAR.
