Former Manchester United captain Eric Cantona has revealed his displeasure at the termination of former boss Sir Alex Ferguson’s contract as a global ambassador with the Premier League club.
It was revealed on Tuesday that new co-owners, INEOS, led by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has decided to end Ferguson’s ambassadorial role with the team as part of a deliberate attempt to cut cost and reduce expenses within the club.
The Scot, who coached United for 26 years and won 38 titles, agreed to be a club ambassador in 2013 with a reported salary of about 2.16 million pounds per annum.
However, former France international Cantona, who played at United under Ferguson and went on to win four league titles, took to social media shortly after to express his disagreement with the recent development, with some harsh words for United’s new hierarchy.
He wrote on Instagram: “Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do anything he wants at Man United until the day he dies”.
“Such a lack of respect. It’s totally scandalous. Sir Alex Ferguson will be my boss forever. And I throw them all in a big bag of sh*t”.

Regarded as one of Ferguson’s favourites during his time with United, Cantona, 59, joined the Red Devils from rivals Leeds United in 1992, winning seven titles in five years, including two FA Cups, while donning the club’s iconic No. 7 jersey as well as earning the nickname “King of Manchester”.
